Peru's Q1 Exports Reach $27.2 Billion as Regions Diverge

Concentrated mining gains alongside regional agricultural and fishing boosts suggest uneven exposure to global commodity demand.

Overview

  • Official Sunat figures compiled by ComexPerú, published in late May, put Peru's total exports at US$27,217 million for the first quarter of 2026.
  • Lima, Arequipa, Ica, Áncash and Puno were the top five exporting departments, with Lima at US$3,714 million and Puno at US$2,409 million.
  • Puno's exports jumped 74.5% year on year to US$2,409 million driven almost entirely by mining, led by crude gold shipments destined primarily for India and the UAE.
  • La Libertad posted a 47.2% rise to US$1,602 million led by mining (including gold and silver concentrates) and growing blueberry shipments to Canada, China and the United States.
  • Piura grew 11.6% to US$954 million on non‑traditional exports, with agro products and frozen seafood heading mainly to the United States and Europe, a pattern that highlights both regional market links and risks from commodity concentration.
