Peru's Liga 1 Finalizes 2026 Rulebook Allowing Seven Foreign Players on the Field

The new rulebook expands foreign-player flexibility under clear enforcement, with roster status fixed by a March 15 transfer deadline.

Overview

  • Each club may register up to seven foreign players and use as many as seven on the pitch at any point during a match.
  • Teams can replace up to two foreign players in the second registration period by submitting contract-resolution documentation to the FPF Transfers Office.
  • A player who naturalizes after being registered continues to count as foreign unless the nationalization and registration are completed by March 15.
  • Article 35 imposes loss of points and an official 0–3 defeat for improper lineups, including exceeding the foreign-player limit or fielding ineligible players.
  • The regulations are official for all 18 clubs for the 2026 season following their publication on January 21.
