Overview
- Peru collected 73 medals across Panamerican and South American cadet, junior and juvenile divisions at Tour Lima 2026, including 20 in the Panamerican cadet/junior events, 17 in the Sudamericano cadet/junior events, and 36 in the U13/U15 juvenile competitions.
- The competitions were held at VIDENA’s Polideportivo 3 from May 30 to June 6, and the national team also won two team medals with a mixed-team silver for the squad called “Barcelona 1992.”
- Individual golds and other podium finishes produced immediate ranking gains for juniors, most notably Hilary Lam moving to world junior No. 1 at –57 kg and Valentino Flores rising into the top 11 at –81 kg, with Yesus Perea and Héctor Mieres also entering the top 10 in their categories.
- FDPJ president María Martínez Murciego credited sustained, multi-year talent development and increased training depth for the results, saying the performances reflect the federation’s long-term work and athlete commitment.
- The sweep at a regional multi-age event highlights Lima’s role as a competition hub and should increase visibility, ranking points and international opportunities for Peru’s young judokas as they move into higher-level junior and senior circuits.
