Peru Sets Nov. 17 Launch for 2026 Machu Picchu Ticket Sales and Confirms Visitor Caps

UNESCO has requested a technical justification for higher visitor limits by February 1, 2026.

Overview

  • Reservations and payments for 2026 entry to Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail open on November 17 via the official portal tuboleto.cultura.pe.
  • The Ministry of Culture set daily capacity at 4,500 for most of 2026 and 5,600 on specified high-demand dates, including January 1, April 2–5, June 19–November 2, and December 30–31.
  • Inca Trail permits will be linked to Circuit 3B inside the citadel, with the trail limited to about 500 people per day including guides and staff, and authorities preparing the opening of Route 6 to disperse visitor flows.
  • Promotional 2026 tariffs were approved at S/64 general and S/32 for students and minors for key circuits, with higher prices of S/112 and S/80 for Huayna Picchu and Montaña Machu Picchu routes.
  • UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee flagged that current visitation exceeds the 2015 capacity study and asked Peru to submit a technical evaluation and an updated conservation report by February 1, 2026.
