Overview
- The Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros and the Centro Nacional de Seguridad Digital have set the Simulacro de Ataques Cibernéticos 2026 for Thursday, July 16, with registrations open until Tuesday, July 14.
- The exercise invites digital security officers, incident response teams, essential service operators, private companies and universities to take part in coordinated national training.
- Participants will act as defensive 'blue teams' inside a purpose-built training environment and face simulated incidents such as ransomware, credential theft, malware, unauthorized remote access, web application exploits and lateral movement.
- After the drill the CNSD will send each participating organization a confidential, organization-specific report that details strengths, weaknesses and concrete recommendations to improve detection, containment and recovery.
- The 2026 exercise continues a program begun in 2022 of national simulacros designed to boost cross-sector coordination and reduce the risk that cyber incidents interrupt public services or expose sensitive information.
