Peru Orders Recall of 43,944 Parmalat Condensed Milk Cans Over Quality Flaws

Independent tests found out-of-range results that prompted a targeted recall.

Overview

  • Indecopi, Peru's consumer watchdog, ordered a preventive recall limited to lot 892-8 of 395 g Parmalat semiskimmed condensed milk totaling 43,944 cans.
  • Lactalis Perú said quality checks found some cans had solidified, changing the product’s usual creamy texture.
  • An independent lab, NSF INASSA, reported analytical values outside acceptable ranges in tests identified as 238823-01 and 238823-02.
  • Sales of the lot were suspended as teams collect the cans from stores for final disposal to keep them off the market.
  • Authorities urged buyers to check the lot number and avoid use, and the company listed 913 529 537 for questions.
