Peru Extends Security Emergency in Pisco and Weather Emergency Across 134 Districts

Actions will run under existing agency budgets, signaling a push for rapid deployment and tighter oversight.

Overview

  • The government approved a new 60‑day emergency for 134 districts in eight regions due to imminent heavy rainfall, formalized by Supreme Decree No. 074‑2026‑PCM.
  • It orders immediate risk‑reduction and recovery work such as clearing rivers and ravines, farm support, and direct aid to affected residents under the coordination of INDECI with regional and local authorities.
  • Ministries across health, education, agriculture, housing, defense, interior, transport, energy and mines, women and vulnerable populations, and social inclusion will support implementation using current budgets without new Treasury funds.
  • In a separate measure, the state extended for 60 days the security emergency in Pisco through Supreme Decree No. 070‑2026‑PCM, with the National Police in charge of internal order and the Armed Forces providing support.
  • Operations in Pisco will target high‑crime zones using intelligence and crime maps, with temporary limits on home inviolability, movement, and assembly, and a results report due five business days after the period ends to the Interior Ministry for forwarding to Congress, the Judiciary, and the Presidency.
