Overview
- On July 1 the Presidency of the Council of Ministers approved S/196,346,552 for PLANSIS 2026–2028 to finance 56 interventions by 25 public entities and benefit more than 21 million people in exposed areas.
- The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation will receive about S/156 million to replace high‑risk water and sewer networks, finance a housing reinforcement bonus for vulnerable homes and provide technical assistance to improve building safety.
- The Ministry of Environment, through the IGP and INAIGEM, was allocated S/15,018,878 to operate and maintain the national seismic and accelerometric network and to strengthen the Peruvian seismic alert system.
- The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior received S/12.7 million and S/5.2 million respectively to fund armed forces and police search‑and‑rescue brigades, tsunami monitoring, flood mapping and training for regional, local and volunteer responders.
- The plan makes PLANSIS an obligatory coordinating instrument for national, regional and local governments to execute studies on active faults, paleo‑tsunamis and soil risk while ongoing IGP monitoring — including a magnitude 3.5 quake in Caylloma with no reported damage — underscores the need for the funded upgrades.
