Perth Wakes to Near‑Freezing Mornings as Winter Arrives

A cold front has pushed morning temperatures close to zero, signaling a week of cooler days and a chance of light showers.

Overview

  • Perth recorded near‑freezing and low single‑digit morning temperatures on Tuesday, with weather stations reporting lows around 0.3°C at Gingin, 0.5°C at Pearce and readings near 1–1.4°C across other metro sites.
  • The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a cool week with daytime highs near 15–18°C and overnight lows commonly around 3–6°C, with partly cloudy conditions midweek.
  • A severe thunderstorm warning for WA’s south was cancelled on Monday but heavy, localised rain was still observed, including 24mm in an hour at Jerdacuttup and about 11mm in the Perth CBD on Sunday.
  • The Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the SES urged residents to avoid flooded drains and fallen power lines, photograph damage and call the SES on 132 500 for significant property damage.
