Person of Interest in Custody After Three Linked Highway Shootings in Prince George’s County

Police scheduled a 1 p.m. briefing to identify a suspect in the three linked highway shootings.

  • Maryland State Police and Prince George’s County Police say the late-night attacks on Route 5 and I‑95/I‑495 are connected.
  • Gunfire was reported at 10:35 p.m. Monday on Route 5 near Allentown Road, about 15 minutes later on the northbound Route 5 ramp to the Outer Loop, and just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on southbound I‑95/I‑495 near Ardwick Ardmore Road.
  • A driver was struck in the third incident and drove to a hospital, and no fatalities have been reported.
  • Authorities have not said whether the person in custody is the shooter, and they previously circulated a description of a Black man in a dark top and light pants driving a red or burgundy Dodge Charger or Challenger.
