- District officials posted a preliminary plan and stressed that no decisions have been made ahead of a Governing Board retreat Thursday morning and a regular meeting that evening where members could initiate a formal public hearing.
- The draft calls for closing Kachina and Pioneer elementary schools next year and repurposing the campuses, with current enrollments of 263 at Kachina and 419 at Pioneer.
- Kindergarten through sixth grade students from Kachina and Pioneer would be reassigned to Canyon and Foothills elementary schools under the proposal.
- Cactus High School would be converted to a 7–12 campus, taking 7th and 8th graders from Kachina, Pioneer, Canyon, Foothills and optionally Oakwood, with the 7–8 moves targeted for the 2028–29 school year as Oakwood shifts to Pre-K–6.
- Peoria eCampus would operate only for grades 9–12, Peoria Flex Academy would relocate from Peoria High School, and MET Professional Academy would expand in Old Main at Peoria High as the district pursues $33 million in cuts after using $5 million in reserves.
