Pennsylvania Adds Free World Cup Fan Zones in Pittsburgh, Reading and Scranton

Officials want the World Cup’s benefits to reach communities outside Philadelphia.

Overview

  • Pennsylvania leaders announced three free fan zones on Thursday to bring knockout-stage watch parties to Pittsburgh, Reading and Scranton.
  • The Pittsburgh site will open Acrisure Stadium for field-level viewing on the video board for July 4–5 round-of-16 matches, a July 9 quarterfinal, and the July 19 final.
  • Reading will host English- and Spanish-language watch parties inside Santander Arena for July 3 round-of-32 games, July 4 round-of-16 action, the July 18 third-place match, and the final.
  • Scranton will stage outdoor watch parties at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square with an LED screen sized for crowds of about 5,000 on July 4–6, July 18, and July 19.
  • Philadelphia remains the host city with six matches at Lincoln Financial Field, including a July 4 round-of-16 game, plus a 39‑day fan festival at Lemon Hill that organizers say could help drive a projected $770 million economic impact.
