Overview
- Classic Stage Company announced Thursday that Penelope will run at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater from December 10–20 with opening night on December 11.
- Grace McLean, who co-wrote the book, will star in the production directed by Eva Steinmetz.
- Composer-lyricist Alex Bechtel will perform onstage at the piano and appear with four musicians who will function as a musical Greek chorus.
- Penelope has developed through regional premieres and festival runs since 2023, including Hudson Valley Shakespeare, Signature Theatre, Theatre Horizon, the Ancram Center, and a 2026 Edinburgh Fringe run.
- The show received the 2026 Richard Rodgers Award and released Penelope: Live from Joe’s Pub, and CSC has scheduled presales beginning September 1 with general tickets on sale September 3 to build audience momentum.
