Pemex Awards Seven Mixed-Development Contracts, Taps Slim-Linked Firm for Macavil

The rollout seeks to boost output through private partnerships under heightened scrutiny following recent audit findings tied to excess payments.

Overview

  • Pemex said seven of 10 planned mixed-development deals are adjudicated, with three more still in competitive process.
  • Macavil, the largest award, went to GSM–Bronco of Grupo Carso on a 20-year term with plans for 7 wells and 7 completions and estimated recoveries of 393.2 billion cubic feet of wet gas and 27.5 million barrels of condensate.
  • Consorcio 5M del Golfo won three fields—Tamaulipas Constituciones, Sini–Caparroso and Madrefil–Bellota—with contract terms of 20, 15 and 10 years, respectively.
  • Geolis secured Cuervito and Petrolera Miahuapán was awarded Agua Fría, while the Tupilco Terciario contract remains pending signature after CESIGSA was previously identified as the winner.
  • The ASF’s 2024 audit flagged excess payments including 36.6 million pesos in a contract involving GSM–Bronco and about 1.2 billion pesos in work by another Slim-linked company, intensifying oversight of the new awards.
