Pearl Abyss Announces Charting The Unknown DLC for Crimson Desert

The studio is positioning the game as a multi‑platform franchise by adding naval, underwater, and base‑building systems to broaden how players explore Pywel.

Overview

  • Pearl Abyss revealed Charting The Unknown on September 3 during Sony’s State of Play and set a firm release date of October 15 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with pre‑orders now live.
  • The expansion continues the main story with Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane while adding ship command, ship-to-ship naval combat, underwater exploration and diving mechanics.
  • Charting The Unknown introduces a base-building/housing system that lets players construct and furnish a castle and build village-style facilities, plus brief trailer hints at romance interactions.
  • Players who pre-order receive exclusive diving outfits called the Charter’s and Charter’s Light Diving sets and Pearl Abyss will distribute the DLC on PlayStation Store, Steam, Epic and Microsoft Store.
  • The DLC follows a free Enhanced 2.0 overhaul released in late August and will help determine Pearl Abyss’s franchise plans, including a reported Switch 2 port in development and study of multiplayer or live-service options that would need major technical work.
