Peacock Orders Three More Seasons of The Traitors

Strong ratings and a seven-Emmy haul have pushed the streamer to lock in Alan Cumming and accelerate U.S. and U.K. spin-offs and scheduling plans.

Overview

  • Peacock announced Sept. 16 that it has renewed The Traitors for three additional seasons, taking the show through Season 8 and confirming Alan Cumming will return as host and executive producer.
  • The pickup follows the series’ seven-Emmy wins, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host, a performance producers and Peacock cited as a key reason for the multi-season order.
  • Peacock and Nielsen data show Season 4 was the show’s biggest to date, with viewership up 72% over Season 3 and 8.1 billion minutes streamed, strengthening the format’s commercial case.
  • Programming moves tied to the expansion are immediate: NBC premieres the civilian spinoff The Traitors: New Blood on Sept. 17 with a two-hour debut that streams on Peacock the next day, and the BBC will launch Celebrity Traitors series two on Oct. 1 with a released trailer and full celebrity cast.
  • The format, created from Dutch series De Verraders and produced for many markets by Studio Lambert and All3Media partners, will continue to be deployed in celebrity and civilian versions with companion shows and paired linear/streaming windows to grow live audiences and social buzz.
