Overview
- The NHL Alumni Association announced Thursday that Boutilier died at age 63, and it did not share a cause of death.
- He played eight NHL seasons with the Islanders, Bruins, North Stars, Rangers and Jets, totaling 288 games with 27 goals and 110 points.
- Selected 21st overall by New York in the 1981 draft from the QMJHL’s Sherbrooke Castors, he had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup with the 1983 Islanders.
- After retiring in 1991, he coached at the collegiate level and worked in player development, including a 2013–14 stint with the Nashville Predators.
- In recent seasons he served as a defensive consultant in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats and Québec Remparts, and he won gold with Canada at the 1982 World Junior Championship.
