Patlabor: The Case Files Set for September 17 Release on PS5 and PC

Creator supervision and a new Kenji Kawai theme signal an effort to keep the game faithful to the original as the franchise returns to screens and theaters.

  • Good Smile Company and developer Chime Corporation announced on Monday, August 10, 2026 that Patlabor: The Case Files will launch worldwide on September 17, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
  • PlayStation Store pre-orders are live in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, with the Digital Deluxe including a 30-track original soundtrack and 72 hours of early access beginning September 14.
  • The game will support English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, and the PS5 version will be sold physically in Japan while PC distribution is confirmed on Steam and reported for the Epic Games Store.
  • Patlabor: The Case Files is a 3D action game with story missions from multiple perspectives, full voice acting, a simulator mode, and more than 20 playable Labor mechs such as the AV-98 Ingram and Type-J9 Griffon.
  • The release is part of a wider Patlabor resurgence that includes Bandai Namco’s Ezy movies running through March 2027 and builds toward the series’ 40th anniversary, with original creators credited as supervising production to reinforce authenticity.
