Pathologist Tells Jury Chef’s Fatal Injuries Went Beyond Punches in Shrewsbury Murder Trial

The testimony sharpens the case around alleged severe blunt-force trauma.

Overview

  • Forensic pathologist Dr Alexander Kolar told jurors the injuries could not be from punches alone and fit kicks, stomps or a weapon.
  • The autopsy recorded 17 fractured ribs and a brain bleed, and Dr Kolar said death followed multiple injuries complicated by cirrhosis and extreme intoxication.
  • Rowson phoned police and led paramedics to a derelict attic, where crews found Alexis De Naray naked under a sleeping bag with dried blood and heavy bruising.
  • Prosecutors say CCTV showed the pair leaving Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for the site, that Rowson later said he had “killed someone,” used De Naray’s bank card and wore a stained jumper.
  • Rowson, 26, pleads not guilty to murder and to an alternative manslaughter charge, and the case is underway at Stafford Crown Court in March 2026.
