Path of Exile 2 Adds Atlas Passive Tree and New High‑Risk Loot in Patch 0.5.4

The update links passive customization to Expedition encounters, expands gamble-style item upgrades, and aims to broaden build options as GGG polishes the game for a planned 1.0 release.

Overview

  • Patch 0.5.4 went live Thursday and introduces an Atlas Passive tree that players unlock by beating Grand Expedition bosses to earn points tied to the Runes of Aldur seasonal content.
  • A new 'Feeling Lucky?' node makes the seasonal NPC Farrow sell Liquid Verisium, which lets players start Remnant encounters with a random rune roll to change risk and reward for those fights.
  • Uniques that grant extra skills will now scale down to match lower-level characters so players can use many of those items much earlier in progression.
  • After defeating Atziri in the Temple players can earn up to four Orbs of Sacrifice that upgrade corrupted enchantments significantly but remove a random modifier, intensifying corruption-based gamble mechanics.
  • The Vessel of Kulemak now drops The Master's Reach gloves, which reveal enemy weaknesses and grant the new Untether skill, and these additions continue GGG’s staged early-access testing to reshape endgame play ahead of a 1.0 launch.
