Overview
- The National Assembly approved a new deadline of 31 March 2026 for the ad hoc committee probing alleged criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.
- ANC Chief Whip Mdumiseni Ntuli moved the extension, which the House adopted without objection during a brief virtual sitting on Tuesday.
- This is the committee’s third extension, following earlier deadlines of 31 October and 28 November 2025 that were later shifted to 20 February 2026.
- The extra time follows disruptions that include a session with private investigator Paul O’Sullivan cut short due to ill health and businessman Brown Mogotsi insisting Parliament fund a security detail before he appears.
- The draft programme lists Sarah-Jane Trent and Fadiel Adams for 23 February, Mogotsi on 24 February, Khomotso Phahlane on 26 February, Francinah Vuma on 27 February, additional SAPS officials on 3–4 March, and returns by Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Fannie Masemola on 5–6 March before the committee compiles its report.
