Overview
- A 22-year-old after-school animator at École maternelle Bullourde in Paris’s 11th arrondissement was placed under formal investigation on February 6 for sexual assault on a minor, sexual exhibition and corruption of a minor.
- He was arrested on February 5 and placed under judicial supervision that bars contact with alleged victims, prohibits him from appearing at the Bullourde school and forbids work involving regular contact with minors.
- An investigating judge has been assigned and a judicial investigation is now underway, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
- Parents of affected children described relief that their complaints are being acted on and said they feel their voices are finally being heard.
- The development follows the October suspension of three other animators at the same school and comes as Paris’s Defender of Children reports receiving more than 150 alerts since taking office in December.
