Paris Fire Brigade Night Drill To Close Central Seine Quays From 9 p.m.

The drill will test emergency readiness for mass-casualty care.

Overview

  • The Paris fire brigade will run a large training exercise along the Seine on Thursday night, with operations set for about 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Traffic controls begin at 9 p.m. with the closure of the Georges-Pompidou roadway between Pont Louis-Philippe and the Tuileries tunnel.
  • From 10 p.m., the Édouard-Glissant promenade, Port de Solférino and the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge will close, with circulation and parking bans on several right- and left-bank quays.
  • Residents may enter their buildings only with authorization, and authorities urge the public to avoid the sector and plan other routes.
  • Many actors will pose as injured victims to make the scenario realistic, and a large emergency deployment will be visible through much of the night.
