Parents of KGMU Doctor Arrested as Police Expand Hunt for Absconding Suspect

Police escalated the case after magistrate-recorded statements alleged family involvement in coerced conversion.

Overview

  • Lucknow Police arrested the accused doctor’s parents, Salimuddin and Khadija/Khateeja, from a rented flat in Thakurganj after both survivors named them in statements recorded before a magistrate.
  • The resident doctor, identified as Rameezuddin (also reported as Rameez Uddin Nayak), remains on the run with a non-bailable warrant issued and the reward for information raised to ₹50,000.
  • Investigators formed multiple teams and are conducting raids across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, including searches linked to addresses in Pilibhit and Uttarakhand.
  • The case stems from a December 23 complaint and FIR citing BNS sections for sexual intercourse by deceit, causing miscarriage without consent, and criminal intimidation, along with Sections 3/5 of UP’s anti-conversion law; KGMU has suspended the accused.
  • Police say two women—residents at KGMU and Agra Medical College—allege sexual exploitation, coerced conversion, and miscarriages, and officers are now verifying the roles of a cleric and a witness while moving to seek attachment of the accused’s property.
