Overview
- Paramount announced Thursday that the untitled animated adaptation of Yehudi Mercado’s comic will open in theaters on Friday, October 13, 2028.
- The studio describes the film as a PG-rated family horror-comedy about a vacation that goes wrong when Uncle Freddy inherits supernatural powers, and it was first unveiled at the Annecy festival.
- Dan Trachtenberg will direct and produce the feature, Mercado will co-direct, and producer Ben Rosenblatt is also attached.
- Paramount has not disclosed casting, the animation studio, or a detailed production schedule for the project.
- The film is the first public result of Trachtenberg’s recent first-look deal with Paramount and the title is an original indie-comic story with no ties to established slasher franchises.
