Palworld Exits Early Access With Massive 1.0 Update

Pocketpair’s July 10 release adds dozens of new Pals and major system overhauls, has driven huge Steam player spikes, and requires players to fully remove legacy mods before updating.

Overview

  • Developer Pocketpair released Palworld version 1.0 on Friday, July 10, 2026, marking the game's official move out of Early Access.
  • The update adds roughly 72 new Pals, new zones including Sunreach and the World Tree, new mechanics called Awakening and Mutation, and a raised level cap and broad reworks to progression, combat, base building and multiplayer.
  • Pocketpair published unusually long patch notes that exceeded Steam's post limit and warned players to back up saves, manually delete old mod files (notably Pal\Binaries\Win64 and Pal\Content\Paks) and unsubscribe from Workshop mods before updating to avoid crashes or corrupted saves, while recommending starting a fresh save for the best experience.
  • The 1.0 launch produced a major commercial response, driving Steam concurrent players into the hundreds of thousands and peaking above 700,000 on some trackers, alongside overwhelmingly positive player reviews at launch.
  • Nintendo’s ongoing legal action over certain patented gameplay mechanics remains unresolved, and Pocketpair quietly revised some creature designs ahead of 1.0 while choosing to keep Palworld priced at $29.99.
