Overview
- From 2027 to 2029, daily cruise berths in June to September will drop from 8,500 to 7,500 at the Port of Palma.
- No more than three cruise ships may dock per day, with only one vessel permitted to carry over 5,000 passengers.
- Outside the summer period, berth capacity remains at 8,500 under the new arrangement.
- The pact, agreed by the Balearic Government, Palma City Council and about 20 cruise operators, runs until 2031.
- Environmental groups and resident activists say the measures are insufficient as visitor numbers continue to rise across the Balearic Islands.
