Overview
- The mall formally reopened on Saturday, August 15, with a ribbon-cutting led by developer Rick Caruso and daylong public festivities for residents and business owners.
- Caruso’s company spent more than $100 million on environmental remediation and reconstruction, stripping damaged areas to framing, treating materials and replacing insulation and ductwork so the 125,000-square-foot center could safely reopen.
- Palisades Village is about 99% leased, with most prior tenants returning and roughly one-third of shops new to the property, including chef Nancy Silverton’s Spacca Tutto and retailers Violet Grey and LESET.
- Caruso funded nearby infrastructure fixes and worked with city agencies on public-private projects near Sunset Boulevard, and the Los Angeles Board of Public Works has approved a Pacific Palisades streetscape and beautification plan to support the area’s revitalization.
- Large parts of Pacific Palisades remain under reconstruction and many residents are still displaced, and the mall’s survival and use of private firefighters during the January 2025 blaze continue to draw public scrutiny even as the reopening aims to spur further rebuilding.
