- Pakistan’s UN ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad told the Security Council on Friday that nearly two million people in Gaza are living in extremely difficult conditions and more than 90% of the population has been displaced.
- He reported a steep fall in food aid, with daily meal distributions down from about 1.5 million to roughly 678,000, and said hundreds of thousands now face acute hunger.
- The envoy warned that only half of Gaza’s hospitals remain partly functional and that overcrowded shelters and poor sanitation are fueling outbreaks of disease among civilians.
- Pakistan accused the forces controlling territory in Gaza of unlawful actions that obstruct UN, Board of Peace and NGO relief efforts and called for immediate, unimpeded access plus full operation of Rafah for aid, commercial supplies and medical evacuations.
- The statement said Security Council measures such as Resolution 2803 and the Board of Peace roadmap have not delivered full implementation, a shortfall that Pakistan argued risks prolonging civilian suffering and endangering a generation of children.
