Pakistan Seafood Exports Reach Record $568 Million in FY2025–26

Stronger quality controls, expanded market access and more value-added processing drove the gain as sustainability and logistics risks remain

Overview

  • Pakistan’s fisheries sector reported a record $568 million in exports for fiscal 2025–26, the government announced on Thursday, July 9.
  • Frozen fish was the top earner with $105.09 million, followed by frozen squid and cuttlefish ($103.71m), fish meal ($83.12m) and shrimp ($62.14m).
  • Shipments were concentrated to China, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE, Japan, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Indonesia and the United States.
  • Officials credited tighter quality controls, approvals to broaden market access including Russia/EAEU plant clearances, and support for value-added products for the rise.
  • Authorities warned that overfishing, post-harvest losses, illegal fishing, raw-material shortages and regional maritime logistics pressures could limit future growth and said top exporters will be formally recognised soon.
