Pakistan Restarts Cross-Border Strikes in ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ After Eid Pause

Islamabad ties any further pause to a halt in attacks from Afghan soil.

Overview

  • Security officials said the campaign, paused for Eid at the request of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye, resumed after the break ended at midnight March 23–24.
  • The military describes the operation as an intelligence-led effort to hit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Islamic State Khorasan leaders, facilitators and logistics in areas run by the Afghan Taliban.
  • An unnamed senior source told Dunya News that any future suspension depends on zero attacks originating in Afghanistan and on no new militant groups forming there.
  • Officials urged the Afghan Taliban to stop sheltering or backing proxy networks and said strikes will continue until stated objectives are reached.
  • Reporting in The Express Tribune notes that months of cross-border clashes since October 2025 caused deaths, damage to infrastructure and a halt to trade after key crossings closed on October 12, 2025.
