Pakistan Presses Operation Ghazab Lil Haq With Strikes on Afghan Sites Including Bagram

UN agencies cite a rising civilian toll after a week of cross-border strikes.

Overview

  • Pakistani officials say more than 50 air and ground strikes have been conducted, including a precision attack on Bagram Airbase reported with satellite imagery showing damage and acknowledged by Afghanistan’s defence ministry.
  • Islamabad’s latest figures claim 481 Taliban fighters killed, over 696 wounded and 226 checkposts destroyed under the campaign, with dozens of locations hit across Afghanistan.
  • The Taliban rejects Pakistan’s account as baseless, asserting only 28 of its fighters have died, claiming Pakistani troop losses and captured posts as well as a downed drone, none of which could be independently verified.
  • The UN mission reports 42 civilian deaths, 104 wounded and the World Food Programme cites roughly 20,000 families displaced, as residents describe heavy evening shelling and flight from frontier areas.
  • Turkey has offered to help reinstate a ceasefire, while Pakistan says it is targeting TTP infrastructure and reports strikes on a Kandahar corps facility and the elimination of several mid-level TTP figures.
