Pakistan Name 16 for Bangladesh Tests, Tap Sarfaraz Ahmed as Head Coach

The overhaul signals a reset of Pakistan's red-ball setup to chase World Test Championship points in Bangladesh.

Overview

  • The PCB, which announced the moves Saturday, unveiled a 16-player squad for two WTC Tests in Dhaka on May 8–12 and Sylhet on May 16–20.
  • Selectors handed maiden Test call-ups to Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, with Ghori the only one to have recent international experience from an ODI last month.
  • Shan Masood stays as Test captain, with senior names Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi included to anchor a refreshed group.
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed takes charge as head coach for the tour, with former internationals Asad Shafiq as batting coach and Umar Gul as bowling coach.
  • Preparation steps are set with five players already at an NCA red-ball camp, a Karachi camp on April 27–May 1, a May 2 departure, and PSL finalists to join after the May 3 title match.
