Pakistan Invites Bids to Supply 100,000 Tonnes of Rice to Bangladesh

Traders say the tender aims to reestablish Pakistani rice in Bangladesh's purchases against competition from Indian suppliers.

  • Pakistan’s Trading Corporation issued the November 20 tender for long-grain white IRRI-6 to ship via Karachi ports as break-bulk cargo.
  • Price offers are due by 11:30 a.m. on November 28, must remain valid for 21 working days, and shipment is required within 45 days of contract award.
  • Bids are accepted in lots of at least 25,000 tonnes in multiples up to 100,000 tonnes with a plus-or-minus 5 percent variance margin.
  • The rice must be from Pakistan’s latest crop and meet food-safety standards, including no odour, mould, poisonous weed seeds, insects, or infestation.
