Pakistan Extends 2025 Income Tax Filing Deadline to October 31

FBR granted extra time in response to stakeholder complaints about IRIS glitches, late forms, ERP integration snags.

Overview

  • The revenue authority confirmed the 16‑day extension in an October 15 notification following appeals from tax bars, chambers and trader groups.
  • An earlier relaxation had already shifted the cutoff from September 30 to October 15 under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
  • FBR says about 5.1 million returns have been filed so far, compared with 4.6 million by the same date last year.
  • The Lahore Tax Bar Association told the prime minister the IRIS system is miscalculating tax credits, wrongly applying Section 4AB to AOP income, misallocating under the Minimum Tax Regime and erring on profit on debt under Section 151.
  • FPCCI highlighted slow portal performance, delays in obtaining records and incomplete ERP integration, while MQM‑P supported an extension and FBR urged remaining filers to submit on time to avoid penalties.
