Pakistan Child Abuse Reports Rose 8% in 2025, Sahil Says
The NGO’s media-based tally also shows a sharp year-on-year rise in gender-based violence concentrated in Punjab.

- Sahil counted 3,630 child abuse cases in 2025, compiling incidents reported in 81 newspapers across all provinces and territories.
- Abduction was the most reported offense with 1,107 cases, followed by 596 cases of sodomy and 522 cases of rape, alongside missing children and attempted assaults.
- Girls made up 53% of victims and boys 47%, with 116 cases involving newborns, and children aged 11–15 identified as the most vulnerable group.
- Punjab accounted for 73% of reported child abuse cases, followed by Sindh at 21% and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa at 4%, and 82% of cases were registered with police.
- Sahil also logged 7,071 gender-based violence cases in 2025, a 34% increase year over year, with murder the largest category.
