Overview
- Peru’s IGP recorded multiple events this week, including a magnitude 4.0 at 06:07 on Feb. 5 near Satipo in Junín at 130 km depth and a magnitude 4.1 on Feb. 5 near Andoas in Loreto.
- Mexico’s SSN reported a magnitude 4.3 quake at 03:24 on Feb. 6 east of Unión Hidalgo, Oaxaca, and a magnitude 4.6 at 03:52 on Feb. 5 northwest of Cintalapa, Chiapas.
- The USGS listed numerous small earthquakes across U.S. regions on Feb. 5–6, with activity noted in Alaska, California, New Mexico, Texas and Puerto Rico on its Latest Earthquakes map.
- Authorities in the cited countries reported no significant damage or casualties from these recent low-to-moderate events and continue routine monitoring.
- Peru’s Environment Ministry launched the Geoquebradas platform on Feb. 5 to help detect ravine activation and support landslide and flood risk reduction using multi‑agency data.
