Overview
- Cumberland Council will close a section of the A689 overnight for six days with work running from 7pm to 6am.
- The closure covers the stretch between Newby West Roundabout and Moorhouse Road Roundabout in Carlisle.
- Orton Road roundabout will also shut overnight for five nights to allow dedicated resurfacing.
- Drivers will follow a signed diversion via Kingmoor Road, A7 Kingstown Road, Scotland Road, A595, Castle Way, Bridge Street, Church Street, and Wigton Road.
- Trained staff will escort residents when it is safe, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists can pass, emergency services keep access, and timing may change with weather, with queries directed to the Highways Hotline quoting TTROC/17855.
