Overview
- A damaged overhead power line between Uelzen and Bad Bevensen on Wednesday led to widespread cancellations and delays on the Hamburg–Berlin and Hamburg–Hannover routes.
- Deutsche Bahn canceled several ICE services, rerouted others with about 30 minutes of extra travel time, and skipped stops including Lüneburg, Uelzen, and Celle.
- Regional operator Metronom closed the Uelzen–Bad Bevensen section overnight, launched a bus replacement, and reopened one track in the morning with partial cancellations and delays persisting.
- A separate fault between Hannover and Lehrte prompted repairs from about 13:00, with the S7 canceled and buses running as operators worked to restore service.
- Some long-distance trains were sent via Hildesheim and Braunschweig, and repeated overhead-line failures in recent months have strained crew rotations and left passengers with longer trips and gaps in through service.
