Ottawa and Alberta Commit $224.78 Million to 26 Rural Broadband Projects Reaching 82,584 Homes

The move advances Alberta past 95% of its connectivity goal under the Universal Broadband Fund.

  • Project financing in the Alberta tally includes $112,390,887 from the province, $136,926,460 from the federal government, and $124,241,423 from service provider partners.
  • In addition to the joint tranche, Ottawa is investing over $24.5 million in Arrow Technology Group to connect 1,059 households across four communities, including 676 Indigenous households.
  • Since the strategy’s launch, $622 million has supported 81 Alberta projects (14 completed, 46 in progress, 24 in planning), with access now at 95.3% in Alberta and 96.3% nationally as work advances toward the 98% by 2026 and 100% by 2030 targets; construction is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs.
