Ossoff Holds Double-Digit Lead as Georgia Senate Race Escalates

A Fox News poll and a large cash advantage have given the incumbent early leverage over his Trump-backed Republican opponent.

Overview

  • A Fox News-sponsored poll conducted June 23–27 shows Sen. Jon Ossoff leading Rep. Mike Collins 56% to 43% among Georgia registered voters.
  • Ossoff reported more than $32 million in cash on hand at the end of April, while Collins had about $1.7 million at the end of May, giving Democrats a major early funding advantage.
  • On July 2 Ossoff publicly challenged Collins to three televised general-election debates to press contrasts on affordability, records, and character.
  • Collins won the Republican nomination in a June runoff after a late endorsement from President Trump but faces ethics and federal-investigation questions that he denies and that Democrats plan to highlight.
  • Inflation tops voter concerns in Georgia and Ossoff’s early leads with independents, young voters, Black voters, and women suggest the contest could shape control of the U.S. Senate this fall.
