Oscars Street Closures Expand in Hollywood This Week, Peaking on Show Night

City agencies urge travelers to use alternate routes during the peak red-carpet period.

  • As of March 9, Hollywood Boulevard between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue is closed to vehicles and pedestrians through 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 18.
  • A full closure of Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, March 13, and runs until 6 a.m. Monday, March 16.
  • Additional restrictions start Saturday, March 14, including limited-access closures on Orchid Avenue and Orange Drive and a nighttime shutdown of Johnny Grant Way, with posted sidewalk closures near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
  • On Sunday, March 15, the event footprint reaches its largest scale, with Highland Avenue closed from Sunset Boulevard to Franklin Avenue from 4 a.m. and extended closures on Hollywood Boulevard from La Brea Avenue to Orange Drive and from Highland Avenue to Cahuenga Boulevard.
  • Metro will bypass the Hollywood/Highland station from the last train Saturday, March 14, until after 6 a.m. Monday, March 16, with bus detours expected, and some segments such as Johnny Grant Way are scheduled to remain closed into March 21.
