OriolesJordan Westburg Undergoes Tommy John Surgery, Out for 2026

The club expects a realistic return in early 2027.

Overview

  • General manager Mike Elias said Friday the procedure was Tommy John surgery on Westburg’s right elbow and that it ends his season.
  • Westburg pursued rehab after a Feb. 20 platelet-rich plasma injection, then shut down his throwing in early May and met with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday before choosing surgery.
  • Elias said a full return in early 2027 is in play for a position player recovering from a repaired ulnar collateral ligament.
  • Baltimore will keep leaning on Coby Mayo, Blaze Alexander and Weston Wilson at third base, with Jackson Holliday taking rehab reps at the position as he nears a return.
  • The 2024 All-Star remains on the 60-day injured list as the injury-hit Orioles try to lift a 20–24 start.
