Overview
- On May 27, organizers confirmed the entire original Broadway cast will reunite for a special performance on the 79th Tony Awards broadcast on June 7, with creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez introducing the number.
- Named cast members expected to join the reunion include Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Rory O’Malley and Nikki M. James, among others from the 2011 company.
- The live ceremony will be hosted by P!NK at Radio City Music Hall, air on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and stream on Paramount+ with winners announced that night.
- The Book of Mormon reunion joins previously announced performances by nominees such as The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! as producers feature every Best Musical and Best Revival nominee to broaden exposure for this season’s shows.
- Producers and Playbill coverage framed the reunion as both an anniversary celebration and a public-relations boost after the show resumed performances following a three-week shutdown caused by a roof fire at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
