Overview
- Police say a stranger tried to take a child from a stroller inside the Cornelius, Oregon Walmart on Dec. 21, and the child’s father intervened.
- During the struggle the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and dropped it, and the father was injured; the child was not harmed.
- The attacker fled in a white Jeep, and a witness provided the license plate, enabling officers to identify the registered owner as 37-year-old Denis Villalobos.
- A Forest Grove officer found Villalobos near the store, and he was booked into the Washington County Jail before a Dec. 29 grand jury indictment.
- The indictment charges include attempted kidnapping in the second degree, second- and fourth-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing; Walmart referred inquiries to authorities, and police said the suspect appeared to follow the family in the store.
