Orbitals Set as Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive for September 3 Launch

The two-player asymmetric co-op blends 1990s anime style with Switch 2 features to showcase Shapefarm's debut.

Overview

  • Kepler Interactive and Tokyo studio Shapefarm confirmed Tuesday that Orbitals will launch worldwide as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive on September 3, 2026.
  • Pre-orders are live in physical and digital formats with a $49.99 Physical Standard Edition, a $39.99 Digital Standard Edition, and a $49.99 Digital Deluxe Edition that includes an art book, soundtrack, costumes, and ship skins.
  • Orbitals is built from the ground up for asymmetric two-player play as Maki and Omura, and it supports local split-screen, Nintendo Switch 2 GameShare, an Orbitals Global Friend’s Pass, and online matchmaking with GameChat.
  • Shapefarm developed the game in Unreal Engine 5 for Switch 2 hardware and partnered with Studio Massket to produce hand-crafted cinematic cutscenes plus full voice acting in English, Japanese, and additional languages.
  • Director Jakob Lundgren says he drew on design lessons from his time at Hazelight to shape cooperative systems, positioning Orbitals as a teamwork-focused experience that aims to appeal to players who enjoy coordinated two-player games.
