OpenNow Launches as Open-Source GeForce Now Client With Anti-AFK and No Telemetry

The project offers a privacy-focused way to use GeForce Now without the official app.

Overview

  • OpenNow is a reverse-engineered, independent client for NVIDIA’s GeForce Now that is available on GitHub and not affiliated with NVIDIA.
  • The app strips all tracking and removes the service’s eight-minute inactivity kick, offering an Anti-AFK option that keeps sessions alive.
  • Users must sign in with a normal GeForce Now account, with authentication handled by NVIDIA’s servers and no workaround for paid tiers.
  • Cross-platform builds support Windows, macOS, and Linux including ARM64, with controls for stream quality, a stats overlay, mouse sensitivity, clipboard paste, and claims of up to 4K at 240 FPS.
  • Development is in beta with gaps such as no Discord integration, HOTAS flight controls, or Android, iOS, and smart TV support, yet the project is gaining traction with roughly 1.5K GitHub stars and a public roadmap.
