OpenAI to Build $20 Billion Data Center Campus in Effingham County

A 25-year power pact with Georgia Power ties the site's roughly 3,200 MW demand to up to 1,000 MW of flexible demand response to limit strain on the grid.

Overview

  • A joint announcement on Wednesday said OpenAI will locate a major campus in the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub in Effingham County with about $20 billion in capital investment and roughly 400 permanent jobs.
