OpenAI Rolls Out ChatGPT Library for Storing and Reusing Files

The new hub centralizes uploads for paid users outside Europe to make ChatGPT a reusable workspace with clearer data controls.

Overview

  • OpenAI is rolling out Library on the ChatGPT website for Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers, excluding the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland.
  • The feature auto-saves files uploaded or created in chats to a dedicated space even if you later delete the chat.
  • Users can delete items from Library, and OpenAI says it purges them from its systems within 30 days.
  • Uploads face size caps up to 512MB per file, with images limited to 20MB and spreadsheets or CSVs to about 50MB.
  • Files from Temporary Chats are not stored in Library, and AI-generated images continue to live in the separate Images tab.
