OpenAI Launches ChatGPT for Financial Services Built on GPT-6 Astra

The product brings preloaded market data and bank-grade controls to finance teams and signals a wider push to link enterprise data across systems.

Overview

  • OpenAI introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services on Sept. 10, 2026 as a finance-tailored version of its enterprise tools that runs on the GPT-6 Astra model.
  • The service includes preloaded datasets from LSEG News, PitchBook, Daloopa, Crunchbase and Quartr and can connect to banks’ existing subscriptions such as FactSet and S&P Global.
  • OpenAI built the product with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as design partners and added features for traceability, including citations that link outputs to source filings and chart-audit tools.
  • The offering uses ChatGPT Enterprise security controls like role-based access, encryption, and exportable audit logs to meet compliance needs, but pricing, regional availability and deployment options are not yet disclosed.
  • OpenAI also signaled a broader ChatGPT Work 'Data agent' to orchestrate cross-warehouse data, however customer-facing documentation and a formal product spec for that agent remain unconfirmed; rivals including Anthropic and major cloud vendors already offer competing finance AI tools.
